H I D D E N - Fashion through palette of Black & White

We all see what we want to see. Sometimes, the answer is right in front of us but we still can’t perceive it. To see the unseen, we need to open our minds. Only then, we will realize that we can’t have all the answers and some things will always be hidden in the unknown. When we accept that we don’t know everything, we open ourselves to learning. We realize that questioning is the answer itself.

Feedback

Learning photography with Indraneel sir taught me the power and impact photographs hold within them. As my first time of learning photography, I was taught various technical and creative skills. I was taught the skill to observe more intently which in turn, made me a better photographer by the end of the program. In all, the course was fun and highly engaging!

TOGETHER

An abstract photo series that symbolizes the process of freedom from quarantine. The term ‘Together’ aims to depict the manner in which people began interacting with each other, post the lockdown period during the pandemic. The photographs show bubbles, which if taken literally, can symbolize the social distance that we need to keep from each other. However. This does not prevent us from being there for each other, from being together forever and always.

Keeping geometry as a visual element in mind, I began looking at the subject I would shoot. Initially I had thought of shooting architectural abstract but due to Covid restrictions, I decided to shoot at home under available resources.  Coming from an Art background, I conducted myself into research-based attempt to try Oil and water photography with the set of references as my visual study. The instant I saw it, it conveyed the emotion of Isolation and solitude.

Feedback

The Fine Art photography course with Mr. Indraneel Shelar was an eye-opening experience. Although conducted online, I was able to understand a vast array of terms and techniques which are essential to photography. Sir made it a point to draw references from his own experience to make us explore the depths of the subject and provide a holistic point of view.

INEVITABLE DAYS – A photo documentary of an old age home

It is very clear to all who visit an old age home that, all the inmates in there are not for the love of being away from home and independent because there is no better alternatives left for them, who have no one to look after them once they are neglected and unwanted in their homes by their own children. The place where the inmates get all the facilities for a routine living with all the basic necessities one require. But while working on this project it helped me understand the true side of knowing the subject well before interfering as a photographer where I realised that all the necessities are well looked after but the much needed love and care of loved & near ones was missing that makes it a ‘Homeless house’

Feedback

Indraneel has been an exceptional mentor to me. His kindness, willingness to share his own experiences and wisdom while listening closely, are all qualities that I’ve learned from. Beyond that, as a mentor he has always tried to help me become a better version of myself rather than trying to mould me to his perspective. His constant support has been invaluable. The best part was developing my professional and personal relationship with Indraneel. My advice to others is to have fun, learn from each other and enjoy the experience.

The Canvas of Simhastha Mahakumbh, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

Coming from the native Ujjain I was fortunate to execute the project assigned to me on creating Photo Essay where I decided to do documentary on ‘Naga Sadhus and Aghori Sdhus in Mahakumbh that was held in 2016 after 12 years. The main intension of the project to observe and shoot the activities of these Sadhus and how they perform their rituals which is considered to be one of the intense experience in Indian culture. Aghori Sadhus put holy ashes on their body to run spiritual activities and chant mantra in the massive land of Kumbh-Mela. Capturing them was a challenging job as they are not friendly if interfered into their zone. Knowing the hacks and techniques learned in class I managed to pull out this photo documentary as my first successful project.

What Siddharth is currently doing -

Siddharth is currently working as Freelance photographer for Sports and Events organizations across India with leading brands such as Lakme Fashion Week, RFYS, Redbull Sports & Cultural events and even worked for Forest department of Madhya Pradesh and Ministry under ‘Incredible India’ campaign.

Feedback

Back in 2015-2016 I was learning photography at Fx School Mumbai where I met Indraneel as my photography teacher for a specialization module on Documentary and thereafter it was a great learning experience with him. The best part of learning photography from him was his way of simplifying complex tricks and techniques to make his students understand the concept of Photography in best way possible.
